Globeville Collage

Map giving viewers detailed map of Globeville.

The area that became Globeville, north of Denver along the Platte River, was originally occupied by homesteaders and farmers. It became better known, however, for the smelters that were built before the turn of the century and for the Eastern European immigrants who worked in them. The new settlers came seeking religious freedom and economic opportunity, chosing Globeville because it offered jobs in its smelters, railroads, meat packing plants, foundries and brickyards.
